First published in 1955, The Urantia Book presents the origin, history, and destiny of humanity. Across 2097 pages it describes God, the universe, the history and purpose of this world, and culminates in a detailed, year-by-year narrative of the life and teachings of Jesus.
The Urantia Book portrays God as both an infinite upholder and a personal loving Father. Each human being has been created “without duplicate in infinity, a will creature irreplaceable in all eternity.” All human beings are the sons and daughters of a loving God and therefore brothers and sisters in the family of God.
The book espouses no particular religious belief system, stating that there is not a “religion that could profitably study and assimilate the best of the truths contained in every religion, for all contain truth.” The Urantia Book teaches that one’s personal faith is the key to personal spiritual progress and eternal survival. It also describes God’s plan for the progressive evolution of individuals, human society, and the universe as a whole.
The text has been translated into 17 languages including Spanish, French, Russian, Portuguese, German, Polish, Dutch, Finnish, Italian, Estonian, Romanian, Lithuanian, Hungarian, Korean, and Swedish. The original English text has been in the public domain since 2004.
